Dunk Island Attractions

The Sand Spit
The Sand Spit is a picturesque sand bar and one of the best places to swim on the island. The main pier at Brammo Bay is also a great place to swim and explore. The water is beautifully clear.

Muggy Muggy Beach
Take the winding track through the rainforest, coastal woodland, and mangroves to Muggy Muggy beach around the corner from the main resort beach on Brammo Bay. This is a quiet, secluded beach perfect for family swimming and snorkelling .

Circuit Walking Trail (3 Hours)
The three-hour Island Circuit trail. Starting at your beach-side drop off, hike up to the Mount Kootaloo summit (the top of the island) for panoramic views over the Family Islands. Continue on through Palm Valley and walk along Coconut Beach before going for a snorkel on the white sandy spit and coral reef around the main pier at Brammo Bay also a great place to swim and explore the jetty.

Mt Kootaloo
From the jetty, make a left and follow the beach until you reach the track signs leading to Muggy Muggy Beach and Mt Kootaloo.
The steep 7km-return track takes you through ancient fern forests and ironbark groves, past the rusty remains of a World War II radar station, to the island’s highest point with pinch-yourself panoramic views of the Family Group of Islands.

The whole family had a fantastic trip to Dunk Island, would definitely recommend for families with young children not old enough to enjoy a day on the reef.
Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Overall a good experience and value for money. Definitely want to go back again as not enough time to explore in one day.

We were well looked after on the ferry to Dunk Island and it is well worth spending the money to go to spend time on the island and enjoy the beautiful rain forrest and beaches. There is a great pop-up Mexican cafe on the island, too (Fri, Sat & Sun). The staff on the ferry were informative and friendly.

Friendly staff, well-equipped vessel.
